Practical Project Evaluation On My Performance
I believe that the key thing to have when looking at my performance over the project would be that i put in my full effort into my group even though some of the idea's wasn't perhaps may favourite idea but still came in everyday on time and did my work. My attendance was the key part in how i helped in the group the most i believe with me being in and getting my head down on the tasks given helped me think of ideas and to write them down for the group to discuss. When finally we chose our idea i tried to help out as much as possible whether it was to film behind the broadcast students or to film interviews or to act as a presenter to find out from the students there thoughts and feelings about everything. I would rate myself highly in this assignment because i don't think the group would have been up to date with everything and would have known about certain changes between the group and due to my determination and excellent attendance the group was able to pull it all together.
Practical Project Production Roles
For our news package we created i took on many roles in order to help both our group and to create a peace a work that i was happy with myself. The first role i took on was a researcher for the Emily Rawlins project where i began too look for research into Emily and what achievements that she achieved and places that she had been and also looking for prices that everything would come to this was to show how much generally she pays for everything. For the head teacher project i again took on role as a researcher looking for the head teacher finding about him and what campus he was at but after being told we couldn't continue with the idea the research was not needed.
With our new project about the music and media students i felt more comfortable about this project because i felt more involved instead of just being the researcher i helped filming behind the scenes as a videographer and heaped with setting up interviews with the music students also with the media students i was the interviewer asking questions that i created to be asked to the both sets of students. I felt i perform much better and with more motivation if i like the project and this is why the music and media news package made me feel more involved.

When looking at other television programmes like mine that are mainly based around music they all include a funky intro that straight away depicts there target audience and draws in there audience to carry on watching whats been showing. Our fonts content is going to be more of a layer back blogger instead of being a formal interview the reason we have chose this is because our target audience is more aimed at teenagers and college students from the age range between 16-25 mainly male so the relaxed approach would suit them more, also with it being about music and media we will be including certain props such as a guitar and music posters to symbolise the music side and a camera a clapper board to show the media side. When researching about other programmes and how they are set up and what style they use to attract there audience:
Top of the pops: Top of the pops opening sequence has there own catchy theme song that will be recognised when ever anyone would hear it, this would be beneficial for the company because being known is key to success. Unlike most new music shows where they use songs from various artists to create an opening theme top of the pops used there own song also a video of people dancing on neon lights shows that they are trying to reach out to a younger audience with funky dance moves.

I believe that Top Of The Pops was such a he success because of trying to keep up with the generation of people who watched it and then they hopefully would keep watching it through life. Although they still kind of always had the same set up of presenting the band then interviewing them standing up instead of sitting them down and getting to know them a bit more which is what T4 do also what we are planning on doing.
T4: T4's music isn't based around single songs from different artists but more of the one artist who has been very successful so they will both interview the artist and let them perform live at the end of the show, this lets the viewers choose whether they want to watch the show because the like that artist or not to because they don't like the music they perform. With the show being based around the performer there title and intro will include there music and face on the beginning sequence.

In this T4 show they are interviewing Nicole Scherzinger a woman who has been very successful also someone that all of T4's target audience will have heard of so is already a famous idol to a lot of teenagers. The target audience is quite clear too because when in the outro the colours used for the writing are pink which is more seen as a young teenage female colour.

Research Portfolio Initial Idea's
Before coming reaching our idea we have now of the Music and Media project we went through several other ideas that we now have disowned for various reasons.
After hearing about our assignment that we had to write and research about (The Manchester College) we immediately went onto the colleges website to view what has happened within the college and if we could take any interesting new stories that where on there and expand on them learning about whoever or whatever had happened for them/it to be on the website. The first story that really seemed interesting was about a girl who was in the college called Emily Rawlins who is a paralympic hopeful who is attending the London paralympics in 2012 who also attends Manchester College this immediately seemed to be an interesting story that everyone in our group loved and took an interest in, because we had a star in our college who was taking part in the 2012 olympics. We began researching Emily looking at her recent achievements and learning about her, we we then began to learn that she had to pay for her own travel funds to places to compete which we thought was wrong so came up with trying to make a documentary on her which would hopefully bring in funds for her so she can travel to compete and gain experience.
I found this on a website which explains what achievements Emily has achieved and a bit about her road to becoming a hopeful Paralympic champion in London 2012.
After the idea of Emily Rawlins being too hard to do because of the lack of contacts and not being able to find Emily we had to change our idea our second idea was going to based on a mockumentary of The Manchester College's head teacher Peter Taverner but the idea was short lived as Dave recommended us not because it can be seen as a touchy subject and can taken the wrong way by some viewers. After getting back in our group we had to decide on a new subject and as a group decided to do the subject based on the music students who we was filming the day after this was a perfect opportunity to both film and interview the students that came in, in the morning. Elliot Beese was the first student who we watched and interviewed asking questions about his course and what he expected when getting filmed from first year broadcast television students.

Research Portfolio Target Audience
For research for our project i looked at different music show programmes and was looking if there was any behind the scenes of them filming the cast shooting the show which there isn't any out there. There is only videos of the cast filming a music videos also we will be hearing from interviews from the band and the students filming the band this will give an insight into what both groups feel and how they are coping for the performances. The audience will then be aimed at the people of the college from 16 to 25 because it will include what these subjects will entail for anyone thinking of choosing either broadcast television or music in The Manchester College. The name of our production Music and Media also suggests what it will be based on so if people read the name of the project and are interested in either of the subjects then it would enjoy learning about how other student do the assignment.
This is video is of top of the pops presenters Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer introducing the band Manic Street Preachers on a live show this is the type of set up I am aiming for when we are filming our live performance but also we will be having a live interview with one of the broadcast students about there filming in Lever Street and how they feel it went on the day. Generally the target audience for top of the pops was for mostly for men aged 30-60's this is because some of the music that was being played was mainly the age group also the presenters where well known when they where growing up and idolise them. We are aiming to add both education as well as music to our show thats why we are aiming our target audience at teenagers and college students with an actual student doing the presenting too also the feel of the environment will be like in a gig which is again aimed for students.

Pitch 300 Words
Our news package is based on The Manchester Colleges broadcast television class and also the Manchester Colleges music students who will be working together in order to create a live performance that will be getting streamed onto the colleges website, this exercise both will help both sets of students because the music students will benefit from being filmed and getting used to hearing and seeing back there own performances also the broadcast television class will be able to shoot a live performance and get graded on how they do. So for our news package our group have decided to do this because it will show the coming together of two classes working together and maybe could lead to other classes joining in who are specialising in other areas to work together.
We will be filming and interviewing both sets of students and hear there views and opinions of what both groups are doing and how is it beneficial to the college to use the two different classes working together, also we will film the event that both groups will be participating in. Both groups have been rehearsing for the final performance so we have been able to interview them before the show also see how everything looks behind the cameras from the broadcast groups perspective when using the various equipment and changing over important roles such as the director, floor manager and vision mixer to see who would excel at certain roles.
For our final performance will be shooting a live performance of the band performing also with using a presenter this would be television shows such as top of the pops and the old grey whistle test where they would just have a presenter and a band i believe this would be more effective for our audience who just want to listen to music with someone just presenting who the bands are instead of cutting to adverts like they do on the on music shows such as VIVA and T4 which is what most audiences will prefer.
