Research Portfolio Peter

I have chosen to do my research about "The One Show" this is a programme that is broadcasted once every week on BBC 1 at 7.00 pm which is shows that it is before the watershed which means that children are able to view the programme so it is suitable to all ages. The One Show is broadcasted live and includes lots of VT's and 2 guest appearances along with having a live audience members sat at the back of the studio behind the camera operators, floor manager and other staff situated on the main floor.

The One Show Floor Plan

As you can see i counted that there are 4 cameras on the floor which includes 2 on tripods aimed at the presenters and also the guest this is so its easier for the vision mixer to switch between cameras that are mainly situated on the presenters and guests. Another camera is on a crane, i think this is a brilliant idea because it can offer shots that most people cannot get to including a high angle and is excellent for an intro also with having a handheld camera can give the director freedom into what he will be shooting such as when all the 'geeks' walk into the studio.

I believe that the vision mixer and director wouldn't be on the floor but would be either upstairs or downstairs out of the way of the camera operators also because of the live audience in the studio there wouldn't be much room for anymore staff to be situated. The reason why i believe they include lots of VT's and 2 guests is to keep the audience entertained throughout the programme also with The One Show generating such a huge audience they will use VT's that would be more appealing to different ages.
