Setting Up Skype On Tricaster 22nd May

Today we where set a challenge to set up Skype to the tricaster in order for next Wednesdays live show where we will have Max Velody on Skype talking to the whole group, this process is new to the group and no one has done it before which makes it more of a challenge. After getting our group together to work on this process i decided to look on youtube for some advice, i found a few videos such as:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-73E5QpOvac - This video isnt that helpful although it did who us that it was possible to do although not telling us how to do it became a bit of a pain considering it seemed perfect to what we wanted to achieve.
After searching online for more helpful videos the search seemed pointless because there wasn't any helpful video's. With no information off the internet and Peter our tutor not knowing how to use it, we had to resort in trying out different options so first we set up the big television that the Skype call would hopefully be seen on this meant that it was able for the viewers to see who we are calling on Skype. After setting the television up we decided to see if we then could connect it up to the tricaster to see if we can get a picture, but this was still very difficult because we wasn't sure how it exactly worked which meant that we had to ask Colin to help.

When Colin came in he knew exactly what to do which was to set it up through the internet and the tricaster, we had to connect three ethernet cables into this D-Link ethernet box which each led to the mac laptop we where using to Skype, the back of the Tricaster and also into the ethernet port in the wall after connecting all these together and installing a program onto the mac it began to bring up a picture on both the tricaster and on the big screen this is what we where wanting to achieve from the beginning, in order to see if it worked i set up my laptop and Skype called Danny Jack whose laptop had the specific program on.

As you can see it worked perfectly the white wire that is connecting up from my laptop to the television is a HDMI cable that is able to connect from my Mac to the back of the tele in HD this is great because the better the picture quality the clearer it is. I believe that with everything that we learned today that we would be able to take this experience into next week
